James Alan Shelton
Anyone who has sampled any of Shelton’s previous 4 or 5 albums will know that he can always be counted on for tasteful, skillful guitar playing. He utilizes flat-picking, finger style and mostly his highly distinctive cross-picking. Here, as usual, he surrounds himself with exceptional musicians on a lovely well-varied program of 13 tunes and songs (the 5 vocals are handled nicely by Sharon Lane, Dan Moneyhun, John Rigsby and Ralph Stanley II). Tim Stafford, Adam Steffey, Hunter Berry and Barry Bales are among those providing top flight instrumental help. An excellent, highly enjoyable album that we can recommend highly. "Road To Columbus", "Texas Gales", "Married Life Blues", "Foggy Mt. Top", "Handsome Molly", "Dark As A Dungeon", "8 More Miles To Louisville", "Wild Mountain Thyme", etc
